Cat Play Tunnel

I bought this play tunnel for my cat Sticker:

She definitely likes it and it is pretty strong. She runs through it all the time and scratches it regularly, but it is still undamaged after about 1.5 months...

Just for fun, I made a short youtube video of Sticker in her play tunnel:

If you also want one for your cat, this is where I bought it.

DIY Cardboard "Kamakura House" (Japanese Cat Nest) - Part 4

Got some new thick cardboard boxes, so I spent some time cutting again. I have about 42 circles now and the whole thing is about 23 cm high.

This is how it looks like now:

DIY Cardboard "Kamakura House" (Japanese Cat Nest) - Part 3

At this moment, 23 circles of Sticker's Cardboard Kamakura House are done.

Some of the cardboard layers are very thin (less than 2 mm). I will try to continue with only thicker layers, because it takes quite some time to cut one layer and it's also easier to neatly cut the thicker cardboard. However, most of the regular cardboard boxes are thin (less than 4 mm), so may be hard to find enough thick ones...

Here is the result so far:

DIY Cardboard "Kamakura House" (Japanese Cat Nest) - Part 2

< Link to Part 1 Link to Part 3 >

The first part of Sticker's Kamakura House is done.

I cut the first six circles. The biggest is 40 cm and the smallest is 18 cm (at the end, the smallest will be around 10 cm). I used old cardboard boxes and the layers are only about 5 mm thick.

At the end, there will be around 40 layers. So, many hours of cutting to go! :-)

DIY Cardboard "Kamakura House" (Japanese Cat Nest) - Part 1

Link to Part 2 >

For a while I have been thinking that it would be great to make some stuff for my cat! Apparently many people had the same thought, so I found some great ideas online. I think I'll start with the cardboard version of a Japanese cat "nest", which is one of my favorites and impossible to get in Europe.

This is the original neko chigura:

Unfortunately not available in Europe and also pretty hard to make it yourself...

But there's a cool cardboard alternative, Kamakura's house, that inspired me:

Here is another cardboard version (the website also provides simple instructions on how to make it):

And the video that makes me even like it more, is the video of Maru (the famous Japanese YouTube cat) and his Kamakura's house:

In the meanwhile, it would be great if I could make some cat toys, but I do not have crochet or any other special skills :-) So I am still researching...

Cat Drinking Bottle

I bought the IMAC’s Bibber 400 water bottle for Sticker, because this bottle perfectly fits on the door of her medium-sized Put Mate kennel and can be refilled from the outside (without opening the kennel):

The drinking bottle is actually made for rodents, but Sticker likes it more than her usual bowls.

The good thing about using a drinking bottle at home is that the water remains much cleaner than in a regular bowl, because it’s covered by a cap. It’s a bit noisy when she drinks from the bottle:

This is how the product packaging looks like:
